What Is The Meaning Of Acacia?
The meaning of acacia is that it is a tree or shrub of warm climates which bears spikes or clusters of yellow or white flowers and is typically thorny. The term “acacia” can also be defined as a tree from warm parts of the world that has small leaves and yellow or white flowers. The acacia is also commonly known as wattles or acacias. An acacia mainly belongs to the subfamily Mimosoideae of the pea family Fabaceae.
The acacia tree belongs to the kingdom of Plantae group. Acacias are the graceful trees that grow in a warm climate such as Hawaii, Mexico, and the southwestern United States. The color of the foliage is typically bright green or bluish-green. These types of trees are usually fast growers, but they live only 20-30 years. These trees require full sunlight and grow in nearly any type of soil, such as sand, clay, or soil that is highly alkaline or acidic.
The most preferable soil is the well-drained soil for the growth of acacia, but it can also tolerate muddy soil for a shorter period of time. Although the tree is disease resistant, it can sometimes be affected by some kind of fungal disease known as anthracnose.

Examples Of Using The Word Acacia Are:

  1. The predominance of the species of Acacia is wholesome and serves as a reserve fodder for sheep and cattle.
  2. The chief trees are the alder, aloe, palm, poplar, acacia, willow and eucalyptus.
  3. Of other essential woods found in the plains may be named as the babool, Acacia; toon, Cedrela; and sissoo, Dalbergia.
  4. It was lined within and without with gold, and through four golden rings were placed splinters of acacia wood, by means of which it was carried.
  5. An infrequent species is the acacia erioloba Rameel doom, akin to the acacia giraffe of Bechuanaland.
  6. The British pharmacopeia includes the mucilages of acacia and tragacanth.
  7. A large portion of the country is covered with grass or shrub, mainly acacia.
  8. The chief components of the low scrub which covers the northern part of the country are the grey gum acacia (hashob).
  9. The leaves of barberry and of some species of Astragalus and the leaflets of the falso acacia (Robinia) are spiny.
  10. The acacia deserted on the borders of the valley, but the groves were usually cut down for the utilization of the carpenter and the charcoal-burner.
  11. Among the trees, the acacia and the dum-palm are most common.
