AFCON is an acronym that stands for “Africa Cup Of Nations”. The meaning of AFCON is that it is the main international men’s association football competition in Africa. It is authorized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was first held in 1957, but since 1968, AFCON has been held every two years. Even the titleholders at the time of a FIFA Confederations Cup qualify for that competition.

There are in total 24 teams in the AFCON, in which the most successful team in Egypt. Primarily, in 1957 there were only three participating nations such as Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
